Please be aware a notary who is not an employee of the issuing governmental agency shall neither certify nor authenticate a copy of any official government document including but not limited to the following:
  1. Birth Certificate
  2. Death Certificate
  3. Drivers License
  4. Passport
  5. Social Security Card
  6. Any official Security Card

Birth, marriage and death certificates must be original certified copies signed by a public official such as the State Registrar (Judy Moulder), Director of Health Statistics and Vital Records at Mississippi State Department of Health.

To authenticate a transcript:

  1. Obtain a copy of the student's transcript from the records or administrative office of the school.
  2. The registrar's signature on the transcript must be an original.
  3. The transcript must be properly notarized with an acknowledgement and have an original signature by a Mississippi Notary Public.
  4. The document is then acceptable for a Mississippi apostille.

To authenticate a diploma:

  1. Obtain the diploma from the records or administrative office of the school.
  2. The signatures on the diploma must be properly notarized with an acknowledgement and have an original signature by a Mississippi Notary Public.
